My cousin who lives in Kelson, (we had rented a house there in the interim) which is just outside Wellington, showed us the Tuohy Lockwood Showhome at Plimmerton.
After a second look at the Tuohy Lockwood Showhome, we met Phil Tuohy on site at our plot in Whiternans Valley. We were put at ease with his honest and open approach to the project. We checked out the Lockwood web site and various Lockwood literature. We formed the opinion that we would be buying a strong, safe, well constructed house, requiring minimum maintenance. They would also totally
manage the project with all costs upfront and could get us in by Christmas. The most important point which really clinched it, was Lockwood and Tuohy Homes had a reputation - one that they would protect and would also want to enhance.
The saying for real estate is location, location, location - and for us the house and builder had to have reputation, reputation, reputation. Tuohy Homes helped us reallse our dream, and make the right personal choices in design that suited us.
We wanted to have a in/out flow to the living areas, light filled rooms that had a different picture of the valley and hills from each window. Our wish list included things like underfloor heating, double glazing, tiled floors, open fire, glass block wet area, curved porticos (which would add elegance) and a slight colonial theme.
Phil & Brent Tuohy and their team helped us through all stages of the process and we were kept informed of all details and changes that were necessary along the way. Problems encountered were all dealt with efficiently and did not feel like problems - 'don't worry we will sort it' and they did! At no stage did we not
feel part of the process and left outside looking in.
We now have a house that we are proud of - and so should Lockwood and Tuohy Homes.

At Easter we purchased a completely undeveloped section of coastal sand dune. We approached Tuohy Homes as we had made a preliminary decision to use a Lockwood home for a family beach property.
From our first meeting their service and attention was excellent and we very quickly found ourselves not only selecting a Wanaka house but using Tuohy homes to manage the entire process of site preparation, construction, and services.
Their complete service allowed us to build our home despite the fact that we live in London most of the year. Although Brent and the team managed the project, we were kept fully informed by email and by this means were able to participate in choices of decor etc.

From the very beginning, the process has been enjoyable with minimal stress. We appreciated having both the building and financial process explained clearly at the beginning and throughout. We knew where we stood and what to expect next. We were grateful that there were very few unexpected, additional costs.
With Tuohy Lockwood running the project, our stress was kept to a minimum. It made it simple that Tuohy Lockwood knew the contractors who could be trusted to do a good job. However, we also appreciated the flexibility to be able to employ our own contractors if preferred, as well as still being involved in decision-making.
From the drafting process through all the decision-making, to the final details, your team, including tradesmen, have been patient, friendly, professional, generous, willing to work hard, listen, discuss and make suggestions in order to meet our needs and desires. Their knowledge was never called into question.
We love our home - we love the design, both inside and out. We are thankful for the work that went in, particularly in the planning process, to make the home suitable to both our lifestyle and our building site and location. It is warm and homely, an absolute pleasure to live in and very easy to maintain (not that we have had to worry about this yet!).

Jim Land has asked me to pass on his appreciation for the way your building crew went about the project at 58 Tutere Street, Waikane. Importantly, he says the
house is everything he wanted it to be. As a site improvement, it could not be better.
He was particularly impressed by your friendly and co-operative project manager Alex Crawford. He says site team builders Nick Aintree and Graham Harris were savvy young fellows who went to commendable lengths to finish work to a high standard. There are numerous examples, he says, and they are exemplified in the professional way they tailored his personal needs and resolved the technical issues for the front staircase. They also made him welcome during his periodic visits. Jim did not meet your drawing office staff or other workers at Tuohy HQ, but he thanks them for their contributions. Jim plans to "road test" 58 Tutere Street in earnest in January after the first members of the family have been in it.
Thanks, Phil, for your input and guidance. The project was well managed from the
outset and professionally executed. The proof is in the finished job - Jim is as
pleased as punch.

When we first spoke over a year ago about adding some more space for our expanding family we had no idea what we were getting into, but with Ross on the design software and Alex and yourself inputting more practical ideas the end result is fantastic. We do not believe we would have achieved the same result without the Tuohy lockwood team at the helm. Ross showed tremendous patience with us as we worked out the design, sitting at his computer tweaking this and that, shifting and changing rooms around but in the end we think we got it about right.
We know that you then had to take over and sort out some quite difficult engineering aspects of the job, something we were quite happy to leave with you. Then when the job actually started Alex was as usual friendly, receptive and easy to communicate with. We did not spend much time with the guys doing the work but when we did see them Mark and young Alex were keen to show us what they were
up to and gave us all the time we needed to explain to us how things were going.
By its very nature it cannot be easy to finish off a major lockwood addition but the
finishing on our job is every bit as good as you could expect. Despite some early
misgivings with what we were about to undertake we are thrilled we went ahead with the addition and can now sit back and enjoy one of the best beach houses in Waikanae. We would be delighted for anyone involved in the project to call in anytime to see the final result.

After having a bad experience with an architect and builder, the architect took two years to design our house, and the builder had not started construction five months after he was meant to, my partner and I cancelled the project and subsequently visited Phil Tuohy at Tuohy Lockwood Homes in August last year.
Ross, Phil's architectural draftspersons and computer whizz, worked up plans for us. Phil came back to us with a quote for building the house which we found acceptable. He then committed to starting the house in early October and he did so. He also committed to finishing the project in mid-March and this milestone was achieved as well. Now two months after completion I am writing this to record some of our observations:
- At all times Tuohy's staff were professional, friendly and polite.
- Once Tuohy's staff commenced work they did not leave the project until it was completed.
- The quality and finish of the workmanship was excellent.
- Tuohy's were always helpful and happy to oblige when we requested variations.
- The initial quote for building the house was adhered to apart from variations which we requested.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Tuohy Lockwood to prospective
